Orthopaedics and Biomedical Engineering Design: An Innovative Duet toward a Better Tomorrow

The main purpose of this article is to explore the benefits and dynamics collaborations between orthopaedic surgeons biomedical engineering (BME) undergraduates faculties in context design programs as well clinical immersion programs. An outline strategies navigate seemingly complex landscape hospitals universities presented through models orthopedic-BME at two distinct academic practice settings United States. In addition (four) examples BME projects sponsored by clinicians, funding intellectual property (IP), priority time management, positive impact on student education are also discussed. Design can provide unique educational research opportunities for development undergraduate students become future leaders; same time, simultaneously facilitates innovative solutions fulfilling unmet needs orthopedic clinicians. Overall, we hope references resources those who interested developing similar framework innovation real-life translation.
